How compassion enhances emotional regulation that sustains purpose, improves communication, maintains connections, and results in bettering the quality of the workplace by enhancing harmonious relationships. The United Nations foundational competencies for managerial and staff capacity building are in the areas of team-building, communication, empowering others, building trust and leadership. I propose we include compassion as a core competency for the UN system, and from there to be a model for a compassionate workplace in the world. But how does compassion translate into everyday practice at work?
